Methods of zoning in an apartment

Many young people now do not seek to immediately purchase three-room family apartments, but make their choice in favor of fairly compact studio apartments. After all, a young girl, for example, who has not yet acquired a husband and children, does not need three rooms, on the contrary, she is interested in relatively inexpensive and compact housing, which she can adequately maintain in accordance with her finances. However, such an apartment needs to be zoned in order to distinguish between the work area and the leisure area.

Room zoning method

Zoning is generally relevant not only for studio apartments, but also for ordinary apartments and rooms. Fortunately, this is not at all a complicated science and even a beginner can deal with it. Although, before implementing your ideas, you should still consult with a professional who can give some advice to help improve your interior and properly introduce zoning into this interior. There are several methods of zoning, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. Based on the information about them, you can choose the most suitable option or even embody them all, just in different rooms. Also, do not forget that you can use several zoning methods at once - this is not prohibited.

Wallpaper zoning

Wallpaper zoning is the easiest and most affordable way of zoning that you can think of. It consists in the fact that wallpaper with different colors and patterns is glued in the same room. At the same time, the wallpaper highlights some areas that are "designed" for a particular type of activity. Also, this is a great way to "share" a children’s room in which two children live. One child likes green, the second likes blue more; you just divide the room in half and one half is pasted over with wallpaper of one color, the second - of another. It is important to choose matching shades and non-conflicting patterns. As a result, both children are happy, each has “his own corner”, and the spheres of influence in the room are separated. The main disadvantage of such zoning is that it is not very clear and still does not draw a clear boundary. However, this can be a plus if you don't want sharp separations and smooth transitions are your goal.

Zoning with transparent partitions

Transparent partitions are mainly used in offices, but they can also be used in an ordinary home. Transparent partitions are attractive because they do not visually narrow the space, do not darken the room and allow light to pass through the room calmly. But with their lightness, they, however, quite clearly delimit the space. There is also a decorative advantage - on glass partitions you can often see floral, artistic prints, which, fitting into the overall interior, are an excellent decor. It is a good idea to use such partitions to separate the kitchen from the living room, for example (and in studio apartments they are often combined). If we talk about the cons, it is important to understand that the partitions make the interior colder and you can go too far, not to mention the fact that this is not suitable everywhere. Also, although it is not difficult to care for them, it must be done constantly, since any touch can leave a mark.

Zoning with a decorative wall

The construction of a decorative wall is a great option for those who want to isolate themselves from everyone for a while and go about their business without any problems. Especially often this method is used in living rooms, and it is popular with large families, since it is they who, even with adequate footage of the apartment, are sorely lacking privacy. A decorative wall is usually erected only in half of the room, as if highlighting a small secluded corner. Such a wall is made quite simply - a stable and securely fixed frame on which plywood is attached. Well, on top of the plywood is already placed all the trim, suitable for the interior of the room. Thus, it is possible to single out a certain “working zone”, where no one will interfere with their presence and you can safely do work and other important things. The main disadvantage of such zoning is that it takes up a lot of space and significantly reduces the room, both visually and in fact, so it is not suitable for everyone.

Screen zoning

This method of zoning is quite rare. Basically, due to the fact that it is quite characteristic and does not fit into most modern styles. Its essence is to use a screen in order to fence off a certain part of the room. Most often, screens can be found in bedrooms, mainly in some romantic and feminine interior styles in which this piece of furniture plays a decorative role. Also, this method of zoning can be used in interiors made in Asian interior styles. Its main disadvantage, as mentioned earlier, is its originality. And the screen is practically not fixed in any way, which is why it is easy to drop it, move it, etc. Plus, the screens themselves are quite expensive.

Bookshelf zoning

This is one of the most popular zoning methods today. This method is used in living rooms, offices, bedrooms, children's rooms. The bottom line is that a certain space is fenced off by a bookshelf. Moreover, although the space is hidden, but not quite (because of the gaps between the shelves and books), which creates the illusion of open space and enclosure. A high-quality bookshelf will not only be a functional piece of furniture, but it will also perfectly help to zone the room in which you decide to place it.
