Wall decoration in the bathroom
The choice of coatings has never been an easy task. You always have to take into account many parameters - price, characteristics, appearance, relevance, environmental friendliness. And on the basis of a multilateral comparison, already choose which option suits you best. Of course, there are people who just buy something without looking at all of the above, but usually these are the people who are not very concerned about the interior and for them the main thing is that everything looks more or less normal. So we will not take into account this scenario of events, because from the point of view of the interior it is untenable.

Especially a lot of trouble deliver two rooms - a bathroom and a kitchen. They have very specific operating conditions, so you have to think carefully about the choice of materials for wall decoration. Usually we are offered only one, the most common, type of coating - this is tile. But in fact, this is not the only option. In this article, we will look at what can be used for wall decoration in the bathroom. This is quite important information, since many people want to make the bathroom not only comfortable, but also beautiful.
Plaster
Some may think that plaster is completely unacceptable for a bathroom, as it will not withstand the humidity of this room. But this is outdated information, because thanks to modern compositions, namely acrylic and special additives included in the plaster, the plaster perfectly resists moisture. Thanks to this, the plaster on the walls can last for many years and at the same time not change its appearance. In general, stucco is a versatile finish that will look good in other rooms, such as hallways. Another plus of plaster is that it allows you to maintain microcirculation of moisture in the room. And this is done due to the fact that the beginnings of the micropores of the plaster absorb moisture droplets, and then they give it back. Also, it should be noted that the plaster is easy to clean with chemicals and abrasive cleaning. But in general, this coating is not heavily polluted.
Painting
Although painting is possible for the bathroom, it is better to use it in other rooms, in the living room, for example. The problem is that in conditions of high moisture, the paint will not last long, and such a coating cannot resist mold. Also, it should be noted that the paint requires certain conditions to be met, namely, a perfectly flat surface of the walls, the use of water-dispersed paint, the composition must include substances that resist mold and the paint must be applied in several layers. So although the painted walls look interesting, this option is very difficult in terms of implementation and there is a huge amount of work behind the beautiful appearance.
Tile
Tiles are the most versatile material and the absolute leader among wall coverings in the bathroom and kitchen. Its characteristics easily explain its popularity - the tile has a relatively inexpensive price category, it perfectly resists moisture, water, temperature changes, has a long service life, can please the consumer with a wide range of colors and patterns, and environmental performance is at its best. In addition, tiles can have a variety of sizes, which is also very convenient. The only difficulty may be the choice of high-quality grout for joints - it must be moisture resistant and not be afraid of mold and fungus. The only real downside is that tiles are relatively brittle and cracks can form if installed incorrectly.
Porcelain stoneware
Porcelain tile is an improved version of tile. Well, the price is correspondingly higher. The main difference is that it is not as fragile as tile, so it is not as easy to break it. Another plus is that you can find types of porcelain stoneware that imitate natural stone, such as marble. But otherwise, its performance is about the same as that of a tile - resistance to moisture, water and temperatures, durability, long service life, etc.
Mosaic
Again, the mosaic perfectly resists moisture, water, temperature fluctuations, will delight owners with durability and resistance to fungus and mold. You may note that tiles have all this, but the aesthetic characteristics of the mosaic are very favorably distinguished. Firstly, with the help of mosaics, any plot can be realized on the wall, from simple abstract lines to a reproduction of a famous painting. Secondly, you get the opportunity to create a wall covering with completely individual aesthetic characteristics. The pattern or combination of colors that you have chosen will most likely be completely individual, and you will not find this in anyone else. Thirdly, there are many materials from which the mosaic is made. Here you have ceramics, and glass, and a mirror surface, and metal, and stone, and even wood. Although a wood mosaic is more suitable for an executive's head office than for a bathroom.
Wallpaper
Many people think that wallpaper in the bathroom cannot be glued. And they are partially right - paper wallpapers are completely unsuitable for this room. But vinyl wallpaper or non-woven wallpaper is quite suitable. Such wallpapers can even be wiped and washed, so that they will get along in this room. Of course, when sticking wallpaper there are several points. For example, it is necessary to treat the walls with a moisture-resistant primer before wallpapering, and the wallpaper glue must also be moisture resistant. If these nuances are observed, your wallpaper will serve you without problems for many years. Plus, to protect yourself as much as possible, you can use silicone sealant at the joints of the panels so that moisture certainly does not penetrate under the wallpaper.
Decorative panels
Decorative panels are suitable for relatively large bathrooms, as they take away some of the space from the room during installation. Therefore, it is illogical to use them in small bathrooms. Decorative panels will delight the owner with resistance to temperature extremes, moisture resistance. When using this wall covering, it is not necessary to prepare the walls, a water-repellent composition is sufficient. Well, filling the seams with sealant will also not be superfluous. It is also important that decorative panels can imitate wood, marble, metal and other materials that, for objective reasons, cannot be used in the bathroom.
