Classification of interior styles
At the moment, there are a huge number of a wide variety of interior styles. To list them all and briefly characterize ten pages is not enough. In addition, if we consider them "by the piece", the process of selecting the optimal option will drag on for a very long time. Therefore, there is a kind of conditional division that generalizes similar styles and contributes to the separation of dissimilar ones. This division is widely used in the work of designers, but it will also help an ordinary person a lot in choosing the optimal interior style.

Classification from professional designers divides interior styles into three large groups. In each group you can find both luxurious and defiant interiors, as well as minimalistic, moderate and “worldly”, so within each you will find something interesting.
Historical
Historical interior styles are characterized by the fact that they were created a long time ago or based on older styles. The most indicative styles are Empire, Victorian style, Classicism, Art Nouveau, Rococo. Since in those days when these styles were created, any meaningful work on the interior was available only to wealthy people, the interior itself has a very characteristic look. The historical group is characterized by stucco, gilding, and carved elements. Quite heavy colors are often used - burgundy, blue, green, all seasoned with gold patterns. Often there are heavy curtains on the windows throughout the house. In general, historical styles, with rare exceptions, are not used in modern interiors or are only partially used, as they now look too pretentious.
Ethnic
As the name implies, the ethnic group of styles is based on the characteristics of different peoples. Oriental style, Japanese style, African style, Mediterranean style - they are all strikingly different from each other, but at the same time they were all created on the basis of the life of a particular ethnic group, which unites them. Ethnic styles have the greatest variation in interior features. If the historical ones are about the same pathos, and the modern ones are equally moderate, then in this group you will find anything you want. For example, the Japanese style is known for its minimalism, moderation, rigor, and not only in the bedroom, but throughout the house. It minimizes decor, there are strict, clear lines, a minimum of color. But the African one, on the contrary, is bright, colorful, disordered, with an abundance of decor and ethnic rugs and pillows.
Modern
The styles united in the modern group have a number of common elements, however, as well as historical ones. The basis is almost always white, which visually expands the space and makes the room brighter. Modern interior styles focus either on strict order, orderliness, functionality, or on fun, stylish elements in decor and furnishings. Non-standard materials are actively used - plastic, glass, metal. Popular diode backlight, murals, night lights and other technological tricks. Their main essence is tied to the fact that they harmoniously combine all technical innovations. Bright progressive kitchens are simply the epitome of a modern group of styles.
