A professional designer is a person who can get all the necessary information from you and think out what you could not tell him. In addition, experienced designers already have a standard portfolio and often they themselves are happy with non-standard and creative works that can decorate their portfolio with special work, so they will try much harder.

Understanding your desires

If you don't know what you want, even the most talented designer won't help you. Of course, no one is saying that you need to have a clear idea of everything in detail. But you need to know what style of interior you want, what kind of furniture you like, what kind of wall and floor covering you like. It's also important to know what you definitely don't want - for example, you don't like big chandeliers in the kitchen, you don't want carpets, paper wallpapers annoy you, etc. This means that in a conversation with a designer, you must clearly define your position, give him all possible information about your likes and dislikes in the interior, and roughly outline how you see your future interior. It is also important not to be shy about correcting the designer if you see that the option he proposed is a little bit different from what you would like.

Willingness to compromise

Many people think that if they already have some kind of goal, then they need to go towards it, despite all the obstacles. But with regard to the interior, this position does not work. You need to be able to correctly assess the conditions, your desires and opportunities and correlate them. For example, you crave a window on the roof, in the bedroom, to fall asleep admiring the stars. But you do not live in Greece, not in Crete, but in Ukraine, or in Russia, or in some other country with a similar climate. And this window will freeze out the whole room for you in winter, not to mention the fact that a roof without an attic is an unaffordable luxury in our frosts. So even if you have a desire, but you don’t have the opportunity to realize it. And here you need to make compromises. For example, on the ceiling to depict the night sky using fluorescent paints. Yes, the effect is not quite the same, but it is more simple and convenient. Because if you mindlessly go towards your goal, it may turn out that although it looks beautiful, it causes much more inconvenience.
