Residential attic - reality or myth?
Own, "secret" room is a childhood dream of each of us. And, having a private home, you have the opportunity to make this dream a reality. However, this decision should be taken very seriously, since work with the attic goes beyond the standard work to improve the appearance of rooms. Also, they require certain skills, so either you yourself must have some skills, or it is worth hiring a reliable team of builders who will perform the necessary work. After all, if an inept person is engaged in altering the attic, then everything may not turn out as well as we would like.

So, let's imagine that you have a completely empty attic for which you have certain plans. What should be your actions in order for the room to become a full-fledged living space?
First of all, you must take measurements. Next, you need to assess the condition of the attic with the help of specialists - the reliability of the ceiling, floor and other things. Weak elements need to be strengthened, to repair possible breakdowns. If everything is done well enough and has no defects, then take care to provide the future room with electricity, heating, ventilation, since in the future it will be a little more difficult to implement all this, and without all of the above, this room will simply not be residential. If you want to make a second living room out of the attic, then it is better to pay special attention to heating. After all the above activities, you go to the finish line. Attic insulation is one of the main points in preparing this room for operation. As a rule, the walls and the roof are insulated, but sometimes the floor also needs to be insulated. And then there are already more “decorative” works that are focused on the improvement of the premises.
Finishing
Finishing work includes covering the floor, ceiling and walls with certain materials intended for this. Laminate, parquet, linoleum, tiles, etc. are used for the floor. The walls are mainly finished with panels, since the walls in the attic are completely different from ordinary walls in the house, and therefore painting and wallpapering is much more difficult to implement. In most cases, panels are also attached to the ceiling. They often choose wood-like options, as they are in harmony with almost any style of interior and look adequate in any room, whether it be a bedroom or a dining room.
Arrangement
The final thing is the furnishing of this room. Even at the planning stage, you had to decide on the style of the interior in which this room will be made, and now it remains only to choose the right furniture and decor. Most often, simple, “rustic” interior styles are used for the attic, such as country, provence, bungalows. They are so trivially easier to implement. Along with them, more modern styles are used - constructivism, loft, minimalism, etc. Obviously, you should not make a kitchen or a bathroom out of the attic, as this is difficult to implement from a technical point of view. But the living room, bedroom or children’s room are excellent options. And the furniture for them you need to choose the appropriate one.
