Why Sideboards Are No Longer Relevant
Many people remember what our parents' houses looked like when we were kids. The specific interior, which was based on carpets and sideboards, is firmly engraved in our memory. First of all, sideboards were created in order to store dishes. But it was scary to put such a fragile thing in the kitchen, and the size of the sideboard often did not match the size of the kitchen. Also, pencil cases and bedside tables were used to store pots, pans, ordinary dishes, and beautiful crystal sets, gift sets, etc. were put into a sideboard.
Decoration
Actually, since the sideboards were in the living room, and only beautiful, expensive dishes were placed in them, they also served as an exhibition stand, which unobtrusively showed the guests that this family had something to brag about. Actually, such a “decoration” had its drawbacks, since the notorious beautiful dishes were gathering dust all year round in a sideboard and, at best, got it for the New Year and Birthday (and even then not for everyone). Many interior designers believe that the modern craze for minimalism stems from a time when the home was filled with things that simply stood and decorated the room.
