How to create an Asian interior
Formally, the Asian interior style is referred to as oriental styles. But there are two very important points here. Firstly, the Arabic style and the Asian style have quite significant differences. And secondly, even in the Asian style there are two diametrically opposed styles, which, although they embody the Asian style, are actually two sides of the same coin.

So an ignorant person may have problems not only with the definition of what “oriental style” means, because the east is large and multifaceted, but also with the definition of what “Asian style” means, because Asia is very, very rather big. That is why designers “love to talk” so much - after all, to create an interior, you need to thoroughly understand what exactly your client wants from you. In the previous article, we told you about the Arabic style of the interior, but in this one we will talk about the Asian style, as the second part of the “oriental styles”. Specifically, we will tell you about the notorious "two sides of the same coin", namely, Chinese and Japanese interior styles. And it is immediately worth noting that the Chinese interior style has common features with the Arabic interior style, while the Japanese style is unique, and it will be very difficult to find something similar among other ethnic interior styles.
Japanese style
The Japanese interior style is the quintessence of minimalism. It is very traditional, moderate, concise. In this style, there is one very strong message - to find beauty in small things. Actually, for our country, this style of interior is not very convenient, since we have different climatic conditions. But still, many elements can be drawn from it, especially if you love minimalism in any part of your home, from the living room to the bedroom.
- 1. There is very little decor in the interior. Surfaces are practically not decorated. Those. the maximum is a light ceramic vase or bowl. Or a painting on the wall. No figurines, no big paintings.
- 2. Minimum furnishing. Of course, the kitchen or
- will be equipped as needed. But at the same time, the use of chairs is not common. Dining tables are usually quite low and it is suggested to sit on cushions. As for the bed, of course it can be, but the more traditional option is the futon - a mattress that is put away in the closet during the day and spread out at night.
- 3. The color scheme is dominated by natural, muted colors - light wood shades, white, green, brown, sand. In the interior as a whole, not so many colors are used. But it is important to note that all colors can be characterized as calm, pacifying, natural and, as it were, calling for unity with nature.
- 4. Natural materials are actively used. For example, clay is used for decorative vases and dishes, and the above items often have a very concise design. The furniture is also made mainly of natural materials - here you have bamboo, rattan, and just natural wood. The situation is similar with textiles - natural fabrics predominate, mainly linen, cotton. Actually, such a meager interior style suggests that instead of the beauty of housing, the owner should rejoice at the beauty of the soul. Such is the philosophy of this country and this people.
Chinese style
The Chinese interior style is more flamboyant, lush and artsy. In this style, natural, but bright colors are actively used, decor, bright textiles are actively used. This interior style is very expressive and interesting.
- 1. A characteristic feature of this interior is that screens are often used in rooms, and not only to zone the room, but also for beauty. After all, Chinese screens are very elegant - they are usually made of expensive types of wood and covered with elegant carvings, or thin paper depicting animals, birds or plants.
- 2. Panels and paintings are actively used as decor. Moreover, the most popular applique panels are made of wood, mosaics, straw, mother-of-pearl. Also, do not forget about Chinese vases. Large sizes and elegant painting are their characteristic features.
- 3. Bamboo motifs are actively used. It can be a picture on the wallpaper, it can be a stylized frame of a
- , or even an ornament carved into furniture. Actually, the plant itself also plays a big role in the interior. Furniture, decorative linings are made from it. Living bamboo is often used as an ornamental plant.
- 4. Bright, natural colors are actively used in the Chinese interior. You can find red, purple, yellow, blue, green, burgundy. Each color has its own meaning and is used in accordance with it.
