Religious motifs in the interior

On the eve of Easter, I would like to talk about something related to religion. After all, it occupies a significant position in the lives of many people, being a moral and social guide. But I would also like not to deviate from the main topic of our blog, i.e. from the theme of the interior. So it turned out to be a good decision to discuss how often and in what form religious motifs can be found in the interior. It may seem that this topic has not been relevant for a long time, since most people, although they profess their religion, try not to demonstrate it.

But, here it is important to understand that religious motifs in the interior can also be affected by non-believers who use such motifs solely as an original way to decorate the room. We will not give an assessment of such behavior, but simply tell you how religion manifested itself in the interior before, and how it manifests itself now, in the modern world. If we talk about an earlier period, then you need to understand that religion played a big role in everyday life. If it was paganism, then there were necessarily totems and home altars, under which a corner stood out, and in some countries an entire room. With the advent of Christianity, the house was decorated with a red corner with icons. The same icons could be in the bedrooms, children’s rooms. It is important to understand that earlier religious symbols were never perceived as a way to decorate a room.

The modern world has a number of differences. Of course, the main similarity remains - the symbols of their faith are not used to decorate the house, it is still a shrine. But the religious symbols of other religions may well be used and people do not see anything shameful in this. In our country, symbols of various Eastern religions are especially often used. Certain patterns, figurines, figurines, incense holders, etc. - all this can have a sacred meaning in their homeland. But away from it, they turn into an exotic way to decorate a living room or bedroom, nothing more. Actually, there is nothing wrong with this, since for a person who does not know this is a really beautiful decoration, and not an attempt to show disrespect. Yes, and Eastern religions are filled with colorful events, bright colors and exotic, which arouses sincere interest among the inhabitants of our country.

And another interesting point is that religious motifs can be an integral part of some ethnic interior styles, such as Indian style, Japanese style, Chinese style, Moroccan style, African style. Actually, this means that at the time of the formation of some kind of special and unique interior style, the influence of religion on everyday life was so great that it was simply impossible to equip a room without these religious accents. Therefore, now to reproduce these interior styles without weaving religious motifs into them is almost the same as depriving these interiors of their originality and atmosphere.
