Caring for veneered and MDF furniture

Furniture care begins even in a warehouse or during transportation, it is important that the temperature in the room where the furniture is stored, operated, is not lower than 10 degrees Celsius and not higher than 40, and the humidity is in the range of 40-70%.

Film MDF furniture

The use of film MDF allows you to produce inexpensive, high-quality home or office furniture in a wide variety of colors, such as marble, stone, natural wood and many other options. The film is a harmless material, it is easy to maintain and operate, but still, to increase the service life, some rules should be followed. Film-coated MDF furniture should not be exposed to high temperatures for a long time, and nearby light sources may cause the film to discolour. Abrasive cleaners, powders, bleaches, polishes, products containing wax, silicone can also damage the film. It is forbidden to clean MDF furniture with steam.

To clean MDF surfaces, you can use soap solutions, products containing ethyl alcohol or products specifically designed for cleaning MDF furniture. You can use a dry soft cloth to remove dust.

Caring for veneered furniture

Veneered boards are used for the production of home furniture, executive offices, wall decorative panels. A feature of veneered furniture is a paintwork that requires special care. It is very important to observe the temperature regime, while the optimum temperature for veneered furniture should be in the range from 15 to 25 degrees Celsius, and the humidity should be in the range of 40-70%. It is important to avoid sudden changes in temperature and not to place heat sources closer than one meter from the furniture. High or low humidity, temperature fluctuations can lead to drying, delamination of furniture and cracking of the paintwork.

If moisture gets on the surface of veneered furniture, it is necessary to wipe the surface with a dry cloth as soon as possible. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can change the color of the furniture, and in some cases even lead to deformation, so you should place the furniture away from direct sunlight. Chemically active and aggressive liquids, such as acids, are a great danger to such furniture; they can cause irreparable damage to the surface, so they should not get on the furniture. Therefore, for cleaning veneered furniture, do not use products containing acids, solvents, chlorine-containing substances, bleaches, abrasives. For cleaning, polishing furniture, use products with the addition of the following substances:

- Wax, which forms a protective film, protects furniture from dust,
- Silicone that gives shine and protects against moisture,
- Oil, for masking scuffs and minor defects.

In addition to these products, you can use an aqueous solution of white vinegar (1: 2) for cleaning, which removes dirt and grease from the surface of veneered furniture. To do this, wipe the furniture with a cloth soaked in such a solution, then wipe it dry. Polishing of veneered furniture should be done along the fibers, with a napkin on which a polishing agent has been applied. The surface must be cleaned before polishing, a window cleaner can be used for cleaning.

In order for veneer furniture to retain its attractive appearance for a long time, you should not forget about some simple rules: use cotton fabrics or napkins for cleaning, use coasters for hot objects, mugs, dishes, after cleaning the furniture, be sure to wipe it dry, and polish it along the fibers . By following these simple rules, you can save the appearance of furniture and its performance for a long time.
